Journey at The Stratford Gallery

a pale echo, Susan Laughton

'Journey' starts this Friday 30th March at The Stratford Gallery in Warwickshire and includes several of my paintings alongside work byAnna King, Gareth Edwards RWA and Paul Wearing CPA.

The Stratford Gallery say:

Susan Laughton returns to the gallery as part of our exhibition 'Journey' with a number of new works that, like fellow exhibiting artist Anna King, explores the margins between rural and inhabited space.

Susan has proved to be one of the most sought after artists at the gallery since originally showing her work in 2016.  Her work blends deep and resonant colour fields built up on a surface of plaster with sgraffito etchings into the face of the work depicting beautiful scenes of silent observation.

Large skies with low horizons give us a glimpse of remembered places, calming and serene, whispers of journeys we may have taken, places we have all been to or through.  It is probably for this reason that her work has proved so popular at the gallery, viewers to it often linger in the peaceful aura that emerges from each piece, transported in their own way to a reflective part of their being.

Originally trained as an architectural technician before earning a first class Bachelors degree in Visual Arts & Design, Susan's history of observation and  technical representation is evident both in the subjects she etches into the face of her paintings but also the excellence in the finish of her work.

Susan lives and works in Cheshire and the gallery is delighted to announce that seven new works will be available in our forthcoming exhibition "Journey".

Please join us for a glass of wine on Good Friday, March 30th to celebrate the opening of this wonderful exhibition.

The exhibition is now available to view online via http://www.thestratfordgallery.co.uk/exhibitions/journey
